Scope

This Standard specifies requirements for steel nails, intended for building and general fixing purposes, and including decking spikes and fencing staples.

Application
The nail types within the scope of this standard are as listed in Table 1.

Modifications

1 SCOPE
Add the following to the Scope:
1.1 This Standard covers the grade of steel nails to be used for construction and securing steel roofing sheets in building and construction industries that shall withstand the cyclonic conditions in the Fiji Islands. It was first adopted by the Fiji Building Standards Committee in 1988 and since then remained in form.

SECTION 7 ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR NAILS
7.1 TESTING LABORATORIES The testing laboratories set out in the schedule to this Standard are authorised to test steel nails as specified in this Standard and other laboratories as from time to time approved by the Trade Standards Advisory Council and published in the Fiji Islands Gazette.
7.2 TEST CERTIFICATE Conformance to the Fiji Islands Standard shall be in a form of a certificate issued by laboratories as specified in the schedule to this Standard, certifying compliance with the Standard.
7.3 ROUTINE TESTING The Trade Standards Advisory Council shall arrange for analysis and examination to be carried out at least once in every 12 months.
7.4 SAMPLING OF PRODUCTS
7.4.1 Sampling The Chief Inspector shall carry out at least two samplings of the products covered by this Standard in each 12 month period. Conformance to the Fiji Islands Standards shall be in a form of a certificate issued by the laboratories specified in the schedule to this Standard and certified by the Chief Inspector that it complies with the Standard.
